Designing the Perfect Laundry Room
When designing spaces in your home, often the laundry room is at the bottom of the list. But many of us spend a lot of time in this area of the home. Here are a few important tips to keep in mind during the planning.
Lighting is one of the most important decisions. How often do you find yourself trying to get something clean, and you just cannot see well enough? It is important for function, but also, an unusual fixture can really set the space apart.
It’s nice to be able to store all the usual clutter from this area. Laundry detergent, cleaning supplies and other items can all be hidden in accessible cabinetry, keeping the space neat and organized. Baskets and trays are great for grouping things as well.
Its always important when planning to include countertop space. Think about how you will use this area, treating stains, sorting and folding clothes. Most of our clients choose front loaders, so a solid counter can be placed on top.
Sometimes the floor gets wet. For this reason we normally choose a tile for the floor. Its low maintenance and can stand up to water if necessary.
This can be integrated above or below cabinetry. If space is limited, a foldable drying rack can be used.
