Beauty on the Bay

This Beauty on the Bay overlooking East Bay in Osterville, Massachusetts, clearly enjoys an eye-popping location. What it lacked was the quality of design and construction details that one would expect from such a spectacular property.

This five-bedroom, 6,800+ square-foot house was built around 15 years ago, most of the original materials used in the construction were builder-grade quality The client wanted to bring the property up to the standards of what a home with this location and view would naturally come to expect.

The project, included a major renovation to the kitchen and an added pantry.

The focal point in the kitchen is the Lewis & Weldon custom curved hood. Positioned centrally to ensure the space retains symmetry and balance. Accented with gold-leaf glass tile by Ann Sacks,  the combination of both makes for a subtle but stunning statement. Flanking the Wolf range are coffee and toaster stations, that feature retractable doors that hide everything when they are closed.

Directly across from the range is an oversized custom walnut island, topped with a 2 ½” thick La Dolce Vita quartzite countertop, giving the room an elegant, polished appearance.

The sink area includes Meile dishwashers on either side, making clean-up after entertaining quick and easy.

Hidden around the corner of the main kitchen area is a walk-in pantry which was originally an office. A sink was incorporated along with plenty of countertop space so the area can be used for food preparation or cocktails. An additional dishwasher was also added to help in clean-up without having to walk back to the main kitchen. A 30” built-in column wine storage  has two individually controlled storage zones, so you can store both reds and whites at the proper temperature. With fifteen racks and a 146-bottle capacity, it’s ideal for any serious wine enthusiast.
